Research Interests
My research interests are in the areas of quantum spin systems, classical and quantum information theory and quantum Markov chains. In my PhD thesis under Prof. Bruno Nachtergaele at U.C. Davis I worked on the Heisenberg ferromagnetic XXZ model with some applications to quantum computation. I am also interested in finitely correlated states in spin chains and their applications in quantum information. The classical analogues of these states are called algebraic measures and are equivalent to hidden Markov processes. Recently I worked on computing entropy rate formulas for a class of hidden Markov models. I also spend a summer with Prof. K.R. Parthasarathy working on Gaussian states in quantum mechanics and connections with quantum information. On the side, I am also interested in the area of mathematical finance particularly financial option pricing theory and I like to work on projects with undergraduate students on this topic.
